My kitchen stays cool year-round, which has made it nearly impossible to maintain an active sourdough starter. I was close to giving up until I came across this product and decided to give it a try. After just a week of use, I can confidently say it works exactly as intended.Despite a few early missteps on my end, like getting the ratios wrong and switching flours too soon, a fresh start with this warmer has brought my starter back to life. I’m seeing bubbles again and finally feel optimistic about baking fresh sourdough at home. One thing to note: the warmer doesn’t stay on continuously. The max timer is 12 hours, so you’ll need to remember to turn it back on afterward. That said, the 12-hour mark is actually a great built-in reminder to feed your starter and reset the timer—so it ends up working out well.If you love baking or are just getting into sourdough, this is a great tool to help you succeed, especially if your kitchen runs on the cooler side.

This sourdough starter warmer is an absolute game-changer for home bakers! The precise temperature control (70-100°F) and pre-calibrated heater keep my starter perfectly stable, even during cold or fluctuating weather. The dual-zone thermometer with clear blue and red indicators makes it easy to monitor at a glance.I love the smart scheduled start and work duration settings—being able to set it to turn on exactly when needed takes so much stress out of the fermentation process. The memory function is a huge time saver, remembering my preferred settings so I don’t have to reset every time. The large heating area fits my fermentation jars perfectly, and it runs efficiently with low power consumption. It’s reassuring to know I’m using an energy-saving, environmentally safe appliance while achieving consistent, high-quality sourdough. If you want reliable, hassle-free fermentation for perfect bread every time, this starter warmer is an essential tool!

I am really surprised what a difference this makes in my starter. I have only used it once so far, but the starter was much more bubbly and frothy than usual. The dough rose beautifully. I think this will really make my loaves a lot more consistent in texture. Sometimes during the cooler season, I have not had as successful of a rise as during warmer seasons. I think that this warmer, along with a nice warm spot for dough rising, will make my sourdough bread better.

My sourdough starter can be fickle when subjected to varying temperatures - hot in the winter, cool during the summer (due to heating and A/C seasons). I've been using a jury-rigged heating pad with a probe thermometer. This all-in-one hot plate should meet my needs.PROS:+ small footprint on my kitchen counter+ holds temperature just where I want it for my starter+ programmable to fit varying needs+ easy to clean+ readable electronic numbersCONS:- instructions concerning timer are confusing; it took several sessions of trial-and-error on my part to get it working as expected- would be nice to have rechargeable battery option to allow better placement in addition to electrical plugCONCLUSION: I'm glad I ordered this starter warming device as it makes my life easier and bread tastier.

Sometimes I'm in a very cold climate when I'm making bread, so cold that in order to actually get the starter to rise I have to put it next to a fire place. The warm water bowl method works to a point - unless you keep the water warm it loses its heat and can even cool off your starter which works against you. This is a wonderful tool that helps keep your bread making process moving at your own pace. The concept is like a beverage warmer but with milder settings and specifically with bread making in mind. The settings also keep the rate of heat loss through the jar and ambient in mind, so the plate heats up higher than what the actual temp setting is - a chart is included so you know what the temp your starter will actually be. I would use this in tandem with those temperature rings that you put on the jar that indicates the temp so you can really dial it in. But I love having this as a part of my process, its a sleek looking little unit, is not bigger or smaller than it needs to be. And it keeps my process moving at my pace rather than being at the mercy of the weather! Affordable and worth it for anyone who makes bread regularly!

This works great! This is a simple heating plate, sized for straight wall jars up to 40 oz. I'm using it for a 32oz jar and it fits with plenty of room while taking up minimal space on my counter. The controls are simple. You set temperature, according to the desired temp in your jar. The temp of the heating plate will be about 15° higher than that desired jar temp, and that's normal. You can also set a delay timer from 0 to 12 hours. The goal temp is reached pretty quickly and the plate heats evenly. Glad I tried this. My house is often too cool for my starter to reach an optimal temp, and this heating plate easily solves that.
