We live in Oregon, and in the winter, we have wild temperature swings in our home. This sourdough warming plate is exactly what we needed to have a healthy sourdough starter for making bread. We have been using this warming plate for about two weeks and so far it has functioned perfectly and we have the most active sourdough starter we have ever created. Wife is super happy with this product.

Up until now, I hadn’t had much luck with my sourdough starter because, especially in the winter months, it is hard to find a spot in my kitchen that will consistently stay at a temperature warm enough to promote fermentation. Using the oven with the light on for this purpose is out of the question, as we need it to bake or roast often, and many sourdough starter warmers I had looked at cost more than I was willing to invest. This Worigot warmer has solved my problem. It is easy to use, affordable, small enough, and seems to be well-built. It’s just what I needed.

Great little tool I didn't know existed. During the colder months, and my home being older, it can be hard to get my starter going and be consistent. You just plop it on there, set a time, and it's done in less than 10 hours, so it's easy to be able to set it and forget it. My bread has thanked me for this!

I've tried them all.. in the oven with the light on, on top of the fireplace, the warm cabinet in the sun. None were consistent enough to deliver consistent results with my starter. This simple warmer should do the trick.easy to operate. Hit the power button, select a temperature (70-90° F}, select a time (1-12 hours) and you have a consistent, steady temperature to grow your starter.First time used, took about 7 hrs to just about triple the volume of my starter at 78°. just right on for my baking schedule.A nice addition to my sourdough tools.

This warming plate has been a total game changer for my sourdough routine, especially during the colder months. When the temperature drops below 60°F (15°C), this device really shines—it keeps my starter warm and active, and even cuts down proofing and bulk fermentation times significantly.During the winter, when it’s freezing outside, I no longer have to wait hours for my dough to rise. The consistent temperature has led to much more reliable results with my starter. That said, if your room stays consistently above 72°F (22°C), this device becomes less essential. It’s compact, easy to store, and perfect for maintaining a steady environment without taking up much counter space. While it doesn’t offer the precise control of something like the Brod & Taylor proofing box (which costs over $200 and takes up much more space), it’s absolutely perfect for what it is.Using it has also helped me better understand my starter’s timing. Once I figured out how my starter behaves at a certain temperature, I could plan my baking much more easily. No more guessing games or late-night feedings—just predictable, consistent results.Highly recommend for anyone serious about sourdough, especially in the colder seasons.

This Sourdough Starter Warmer from Worigot does a great job getting the starter dough to a proper temperature and maintaining it through the fermentation process. The warmer heating area it perfect for my 1000ml beakers and design is simple with the touch pad controls right up front.I used to struggle to get my dough started due to cool temperatures in my kitchen. I was using an old raggedy heating pad that didn’t hold a steady temp and there was no way to know exactly what the temperature was.The warmer is well worth the price and with it now all my sourdough batches make through the initial fermentation phase.

I have been making sourdough bread since 2010 and just love it. When I am proofing the starter, I have been putting the sponge in the oven with just the oven light on in order to keep the sponge warm that will get the bacteria to do its job. This is a risk if someone turns on the oven for baking, the sponge is then ruined. This product is cutting out the risky job of proofing your sponge in the oven and it does just as well. This warmer is actually much better than the oven because I can control the temperature that the sponge needs to grow the best. I really don't know how I lived without this simple device for 15 years. It uses less electricity, frees up the oven do do other baking and is less risky in losing the sponge by accident. I like this product and will be using it hopefully for a very long time.
