I purchased these chisels for my son who is getting into woodworking. These chisels came in very sharp and are extremely attractive chisels that are very sturdy and will be in his shop for many years to come. While not the "Cadillac" of chisels they will certainly do the job for most woodworkers.

El aspecto es bonito. Con maderas duras, como Tzalam, el filo no dura para un trabajo rápido. Así que no es un producto profesional.

los anillos superiores se salen con facilidad, no es tan difícil afilar y parece que tienen buena retención del filo

Chisels are all in all good. Straight [enough], effective [enough] and sharp [enough] out of the box.Handles strong and on well. Pouch well made. That said: The machining marks on the back of the blades are fairly deep (for machine marks). Worst on the 1" chisel. Machine marks on the blades are visible but not as bad as the backs. Took me about 2 hours to clean up back and sharpen chisel. I used a pane of glass and some wet/dry sand paper. Went up using 120 grit, 240 grit, 400 grit and 800 grit. Could have happily stopped here but I also went through 1200 and 2000 grit wet dry.I would have done the same no matter what chisels I bought so I cant mark down for me being picky. Good product.

These come with a leather wrap from which I immediately cut off a 3" wide piece to use as a strop. What a deal! The steel is superb. Your honed edge will last a very long time and sharpens rather easily. I've used these every day for about 2 months since I received them. What I'm not a fan of are the handles. They're just too big, even for a guy with big hands. And while they do have flats on two sides (to prevent rolling), the steel is heavier so they can still roll around, often on the edge. But that's a personal preference thing..For the money, these are fantastic chisels that will serve you well for a lifetime. They are my go-to chisels forsure. Just avoid beating on them with metal Hammers. The lacquer will shoot off like bullets.Enjoy!

The chisels arrived and I was immediately impressed with the heft and feel of them. There are visible milling marks on them that had to be polished away. One chisel had a small nick in the cutting edge that took about 20 minutes to grind away, other than that they were flawless. The cutting edges are ground to about a 25 degree angle. I prefer the bevel to be about 28 degrees so after setting them in my honing guide it was really easy to grind a micro bevel. In all it took about forty-five minutes to sharpen the chisels to the point where they were popping hairs off my arm. Are they Lie Nielson quality? No, but for the price they are excellent and judging the hardness by how they sharpened, they should hold an edge pretty well. I'm impressed with them. This set I'm sending to a friend in Africa, but I expect that I'll buy a set for myself.

These are great chisels for the money for sure. I also own a stanley sweetheart chisel and these came just as sharp and I really don't see the difference in quality and why the sweethearts cost so much more. These also have more of an angle than my sweetheart. I'm assuming the sweetheart is 25 and these are 30 degrees, but I haven't measured them, I just compared them and noticed it by looking. These are rather large chisels in my opinion due to the handle length, but it's really not an issue and maybe a benefit for some, I personally would like a slightly shorter handle. Some have said these needed some honing and work done to them to get them right before they used them but I personally found them very sharp (razor) and they cut the wood perfectly right out the box (though you may want to remove the lacquer). I highly recommend them.My only complaint is amazon shipping. 1 star for amazon shipping. This seems to be amazons weak point because I've read so many reviews on so many different tools and I come across people complaining about amazons shipping standards a lot. I have ordered these, and also a bosch orbital sander recently from amazon and both things came packaged horribly. This has caused me to seek my products elsewhere and just use amazon for research purposes. These came shipped in a box with hardly no extra packaging paper and therefore all my chisels were loose in the box. Thankfully the tip protectors stayed on all the chisels and there was no damage to any of them. But this is just plain unacceptable and bad business.

I was not aware Stanley made chisels of a grade above the plastic handled "beater" you find in mainstream DIY stores. I have a couple of sets of incredibly fine chisels from other manufacturers that cost considerably more than this Stanley set. This upgrade set appears to be a very good value for money. Complete with enlarged tangs, leather washers, brass ferrules, button heads, this is a sound version of a good chisel at a very reasonable price. The leather roll is also substantial. Not as thick as one can purchase at the "tool maniac supply store", but not cotton sheet thin as I had half expected. Will not know about the quality of the steel for a while, but overall I am very pleased with this set which was purchased for my son as he is now beginning to show both interest and skill in the wood-working field.
