I had my husband hang a clothes line a few years ago. The line always sagged until I put this on. Now it functions so much better! I even replaced the line with pink rope! It's nice and tight now.

I was surprised when this tensioner actually gripped 750 paracord (which is only about 1/8" diameter) as tightly as it would have gripped any heavier line. Superb.

These are great. I ended up ordering three for my clothes lines. The order arrived faster than indicated in the description.

Google how to install one of these things. There are no real directions with the product, so it is a head scratcher if you don't see how this is done. I wanted a completely non-synthetic clothes line, and knew it would stretch: this product did the trick!

this line-tightener has been the best one i've ever had.standard cloth clothesline stays put in it - it's EXTREMELY easy to tighten the line - just give it a tug, and BOOM - the line's tight again, until it stretches, and then just another tug, and it's tight again.i like "line-drying" many things, because, as most people know - it's not the WASHING of clothes which takes a toll on them and wears them out, it's the DRYING in a dryer.what i do:i line-dry almost everything - however, when clothes are dry, i do put them in the dryer on the "fluff" cycle for just a few minutes.here's a lil 'hint' for those who like clothes line-dried who don't already know these things:find a way to put up a line on pullies, and buy one of these line-tighteners so when the line gets "slacked" it'll be simple to tighten it.i have my clothesline "pullied" from my back porch to a tree, and i can stand on the porch to hang and retrieve clothes - it's simpler for us old folks - simpler is always better once you get up around 3/4-century, as am i.a little advice to those who may not know these things:buy some dryer balls - and try your best to get the biggest ones you can find - the small ones get between the 'fins' of the dryer and the back wall of the dryer, and will cause the tub to hesitate slightly while turning, which 'could' stretch the belt and cause it to have to be replaced sooner than normal.HOWEVER - if you MUST buy the smaller dryer balls, you can 'tear' them a little to prevent them from causing "dryer-drag" - it won't hurt them - they're wool, so they'll be just fine and still do the job intended even if they're not perfectly round.one thing to NEVER DO - NEVER-EVER USE TENNIS BALLS in the dryer!i've known at least two folks who "read-somewhere" - tennis balls work just as well as dryer balls.THEY DO NOT!for one thing, tennis balls are mostly rubber - they'll cause so much static you have to use several dryer sheets in order to combat that static - AND - they can RUIN your dryer, and even the clothes IN the dryer, especially when they start coming apart, and get that "gluey" stuff all over your clothes - i know one person that happened to.bottom line:line-dry clothes you want to last - when they're dry, put them in the dryer on the "fluff" cycle for just a few minutes WITH the dryer balls in place, and they'll be wrinkle-free and smell nice - NO NEED for a dryer sheet when you use dryer BALLS - that's one purpose of USING dryer balls - they save you money in the long-run. if you wish to have clothes "perfumey" use downy "unstoppables" or better yet that new downy stuff which goes in the rinse bin of your machine.

My clothesline always sagged and I remembered these tighteners from many years ago. I just now put them up on my existing clothesline and they were an easy install for this older lady. Thanks to utube and the Amazon reviews ! Now I will air out my comforters…

Not sure why some people seems to have issues with threading the clothesline through - pretty straightforward - almost intuitive. Works great.

This works a charm. Had years of heart ache with washing lines and this solves a lot if not all the washing line issues. The line still sags under a heavy load but just need a gismo for that and I'm set

So far so good I just put this up this weekend and it worked great. It took me awhile to find an easy way to string the clothesline through the tightener. The two easiest ways I found were 1) Wrapping electrical tape around the end 3-4 inches and thread it through while holding the device open. 2) Running a thinner wire through the clothesline about 3" from the end then wrapping the line from end to an inch below the wire and thread the wire then cord through device. This is the hardest part. When you are tightening the line I found it easiest to hold the line tightener with one hand and pulling the cord with your other hand. I noticed if you do not pull the line straight back sometimes the line will loosen because only 2 of the 3 balls that keep the line tight are holding the line so it can loosen. USing the two hand approach above limits that from happening. I have started tieing a knot and inch below tightener each time I tighten in case it slips and it also is easier to hold next time it needs tightening. The only things I was not thrilled with were the instructions on the back of the box and the price. Some stores I noticed do sell these and for less money but none in my area did hence ordering online. Otherwise great product
