This kit really has everything you need to start whittling as a new hobby. The gloves are a must. An easy guide, several tools, the wood, wax... the only thing you need to add is elmer's glue to stick the template to the wood.

While this kit is appropriate for beginners, it is NOT a toy. There is a good assortments of chisels and they are VERY sharp. The patterns are simple, entry level but the carvings could be enhanced by a carver with vision. For example, the bird could be carved to be a specific bird, with greater detail in feathers and toes, if desired.Acrylic paint is included. In fact, everything you need to get into this hobby and a pouch to keep it in.My husband was so pleased with the level of quality that he confiscated it, immediately.

If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at wood carving but didn’t know where to start, this kit makes it ridiculously easy. For under thirty bucks (less when it’s on sale) you get everything. And I mean everything. Carving knives, detail tools, gloves, sanding supplies, a leather strop and polishing compound for sharpening, paint, beeswax, basswood blocks, and even a storage bag to keep it all together. It’s like the Swiss Army knife of beginner whittling kits. Some thoughtful extras include templates that actually help you learn how to carve along with an instruction booklet that explains how to use them without feeling overwhelmed. The knives themselves aren’t high-end artisan tools but they’re absolutely respectable - solid, comfortable in your hand, and more than good enough for learning the ropes.Whether you're giving it as a gift or picking it up for yourself, this is a great starter set for anyone curious about whittling. No need to buy anything else—just open the box and start creating.

I've always wanted to try wood carving but never knew where or how to start. I'm not very artistic, so I needed some help. This kit covers all the basics. It's got everything, really everything you need to start; even the directions and templates are so nice. The tools are sharp enough that you don't need a lot of strength to use, and the paint and beeswax are nice finishes. I did have to go get a gluestick as I couldn't find any paste locally to attach the patterns to the wood block that's literally the only thing I had to get. My first carving turned out OK, but it's amazing for me. I'll definitely need more practice before going pro, but it was a lot of fun. I'd recommend this kit to everyone.

This wood carving kit has everything a beginner or hobbyist could want. The variety of tools—whittling knives, detail knives, templates, paint, and even beeswax—makes it fun and easy to jump into carving right away. The blades are sharp and well-made, and the handles feel good in the hand, especially the larger carving knives. The included templates are a good starting point for non-artists or someone new to the craft. The kit comes with six basswood blocks, and basswood, which is softer than most wood, is excellent for beginners. The painting set adds a nice finishing touch to projects, especially for younger carvers who might want to add something extra to their projects. It’s a solid all-in-one kit that’s thoughtfully put together and surprisingly complete for the price. Great for learning or just relaxing with a new hobby.
