The lock/chain itself is solid and sturdy, however, the included hardware wasn't very good. I ended up using beefier screws to fix to door frame and worked much better. The original screws had some play, my 2 year old toddler was able to pull the bracket partly away from the door frame.

My TODDLER managed to open the door hard enough to break these in under a week. Do not recommend. These will do nothing to keep your kids in or to keep intruders out.

Recently moved into a condo and have 3 outside doors. Even though I have locks on these doors I wanted something that would make a noise should someone try to break-in. These have fit the bill for us. Not sure they would keep an intruder out; but would at least give some lead time to take action. Very pleased with the purchase.

Beautiful Hardware and sturdily made. However, the screws which would be in tension were inadequate IN both diameter and length. A good hard push would have ripped it off the wall. I replaced the tension screws with more adequate sizes.

Built sturdy, but chain was a little short for my purpose. My fault for not checking.Mounted verticle and made it fit. Not used for security, but to keep a sneaky cat from opening an outside door.
