This was somewhat easy to install. I did not like the 2" screws that came with it, but I had already purchased some 3" screws in advance. As far as how sturdy this is, there isn't really anyway to tell until it stops someone from coming in, or just breaks off due to it being a weak metal. So I couldn't grade its sturdiness. I am unable to tell what type of metal its made of and the packaging does not tell either. The lock is easy to use however if you mount it at the top of your door then you will need a length of rod to be able to pick up the locking device unless you can reach it without. Our doors are a little taller than most so I had to find a metal rod that would reach the lock to be able to open/close the doors. I also was looking for brass or brass colored version, but there does not seem to be any in this color. It looks funny with this silver lock but all the rest of the door hardware is gold/brass colored.

I installed this on my front door-- I would recommend finding the spot on the door jam that will allow the door to close freely.(remember most doors have gaps in certain spots).overall this is a solid strong piece that will definitely do the job that it is built for

I took a chance on this one after reading so many negative reviews of the smaller, half-sized versions of this.It was a piece of cake to install, and is very robust and solid. Smooth and easy to operate, facilitated partially by the grab ring in the center. After carefully positioning and drilling the holes correctly, the door works as before. As some reviews of the small versions complained of seizing of the spring lock mechanism, I squirted Teflon lub into the lock to reduce any risk of this occurring.

The metal is a little wobbly, and the screws that came with screw all the way in so they prevented my door from opening and closing smoothing
