By far my favorite brand of filters and they last so long. ( I have a 20gal that’s been going for 5 yrs.) All filters are usually loud but this one isn’t as long as you keep the water level high enough. I was expecting it to be big but this one really came in big.

Looking for a filter for a large aquarium, this is the fourth one that we have owned, every time we buy a new one they updated a little bit more. Comes with everything you need for a very large aquarium. And the noise level is almost next to zero. You just hear some gentle falling water..

The tank filter works well but its size is too chunky for the horizontal tank. It occupied too much space. I can't put back the cover of the tank because the tank filter won't fit in the cut out area of the light fixture. other than that,it serves its purpose well

Bought this for my sons aquarium. Turned it on and knew instantly that it was going back...between the vibrations and the filter noise...it would keep my son up all night. For someone who doesnt mind the noise, great filter.

Just got it and I wish it was both less noisy and a bit more powerful for the price. I think however if my aquarium wasn't in my bedroom the noise level would be acceptable. It has decent suction but I feel like it could be stronger considering the size of it

does a good job filtering water. Suction cups don’t always grip easily.

I bought this for its ability to function in shallow water. I have an African Sideneck Turtle who does not like deep water. She prefers 2-3inches if water and that’s that. She is in a 40g tank with only 5-10g of water in it. I could have probably gotten away with the 20g filter, but hey with the amount of Easter turtles make... me bigger the better. The water is crystal clear at all times. I typically do a water change every 2 weeks and this filter does not disappoint. I recommend not going below 3 inches of water depth because it will make a funny noise indicating that it is struggling. Because I’m he water is so low and this thing is massive, it does make a loud waterfall sound that will disturb some people but it puts me to sleep. It takes up a Lot of real estate in the tank, but my turtle loves it and often sits under the waterfall :)

This filter is amazing in my 25 gal fish tank. I have little ones that are constantly trying to mess with the fish tank, and I had to replace my last filter, due to said little one getting to the old filter which sat on the outside of the fish tank. Once I got this filter in the tank, we no longer had issues with them trying to get at the filter! The setup was super easy. The suction cups work well and keep the filter at whatever position you place it, and there's also an option to hang it with hooks on the inside. Once its up and running it performs wonderfully. I haven't had any issues with it since purchasing around 2 months ago. It is super quiet, only making light noises here and there as the water moves around. It has done an amazing job at keeping my fish living in a clean and healthy tank.

From the moment I started this filter it made a horrible rattling sound clearly coming from the motor. Considering that I'm using larger river rock, gravel is not the cause. Tank is extremely cloudy--which was crystal clear prior to starting filter (and before adding my turtles) and after doing water changes and adding chemicals to aide clearing cloudy water....it is still murky....and given that there is only 5 inches of water to filter in 30 gallons is pretty unacceptable that 3 days later it's as bad as ever. I do ensure that the bottom part of the filter is fully submursed (where water is drawn in). At this time I cannot even return it because I just can't afford to replace this filter at the moment....given I just spent over 300 setting up this new tank not to mention the cost of 2 juvi musk turtles. I can expect the loud water noise due to the low level....but the rattling on top of it is driving me insane...I have no choice but to deal with it for many more weeks and I am a bit livid about that.

Well, the title says it all, really. The filter is about 10.5" top to bottom, and the only way to make it really quiet is to mount it using the 4-suction-cup option (rather than hanging on 2 clips - the other option. This means the entire 10" is visible in your tank. I like to over-filter a bit, so this is actually in a 30-gallon tank, but rectangular, so not really so much smaller than a 40 size.Tried mounting it on the clips, but this way it spills its water out in a waterfall, and I am used to an internal filter with very little sound at all. When mounting inside using the suction cups, I have to watch the water level very carefully, or the filter is completely submerged and it looks as if incoming unfilitered water might overflow out the back of the filter tank, over the foam and the carbon filters. Too bad, because now my aquarium is not fillable to the top - there is an inch of open glass showing at he top frame.Quiet, tho, and the filtration looks good for the first two weeks.Note: >>>> the dimensions are very close to : 10.5 top-bottom...4.0 front-back...6.0 side-side, which would be about right for a hang-on-the-back filter, but big, big for inside-the-tank....PS: comes with a couple of $2 coupons for Aqeon fish food and supplies...did not look too closely at those.
