I got this FAREAST garage van to vent hot air out of my garage during the summer months. I have an existing passive screen that I will replace and install this powered vent to get a lot more flow and exhaust expelled. This fan has nice louvers that close when the fan isn't on. Even at very low speeds, the louvers are open. But in reality, I will turn on and high speed to exhaust the most air while in use.The fan has a standard adjustable fan knob which is nice. You turn the knob on....and then set the level of power of the fan with the knob. My only issue is figuring out of small bugs can access the unit when not in use (or when in use). I may build a screen box on the inside so this acts as a better barrier for any kind of outside bugs or rodents. But the way the louvers operate, this really shouldn't be a problem. A good fan at a good price.

The power wire is exceptionally short, less than 12 inches (30.48cm). I had to disassemble the power supply to fix loose connections. Quality control is not high on the list of goals for this company.

So many ventilation possibilities provided by this well-constructed product! Equipped with a standard 3-prong grounded cord it's easy to test right out of the box. The self-activating louvers open easily--from full to partial--when air pressure is applied via the fan's variable-speed rheostat control. Although this control includes an OFF position the fan speed is high when turned on and adjusts downward from there. For my own purposes this requires use of a separate on/off switch so that the fan starts at a preset speed that will generally be lower than full. The fan is reasonably quiet even at full speed. Four hefty mounting bolts are included so ostensibly all that's needed to get this fan installed is an appropriately-sized opening and an electrical outlet within a few feet of it--or an extension cord long enough to get to the nearest outlet. Removing the blue protective film from the louvers was a small challenge but my 10-minutes' effort was gratified by an attractive shiny polished exterior appearance I could be proud of.Overall this fan unit exceeded my expectations and gives me reason to believe it will provide a long-term solution to my dust removal needs.

Picked this up for a generator enclosure build to evacuate the hot air and keep running generator cool. It works pretty decent for that purpose , although I had hoped it would be a little higher flow than it is. Controller cord works well, but is a little short, again ok in my application but would be pretty short for an attic install. The blue protective film on the louvers is also a pain to pull off as it was put on before everything was assembled and riveted

Nice design with self closing louvers when not in use. The variable speed control is nice, and allows me to adjust the airflow and I get good airflow for my purpose at a relatively low speed--which is also quiet.I installed this to provide airflow and ventilation in my chicken coop during the summer months. I connected it to a thermostatically controlled plug that only provides power at a predetermined temperature (75 degrees). Above that temperature the fan will run continuously at the speed set on the fans controller. If one was installing this in a finished installation like drywall in a house, one would probably need to locate an appropriate vent cover for the inside. If the wall is less than 6" thick it is going to protrude into the inside space ulesss a spacer is used on outside. In my case (barn), I simply used hardware cloth to cover the fan screen, mainly to help keep feathers out of the fan.
